Dr. Brown offers translation services from Hawaiian to English. She is a trained translator: first in Rome at the second oldest European institute for translation and simultaneous interpreting, then during her doctoral studies (theory and practice) at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She translates for her scholarly publications and blog, her university courses, and has participated in translation projects. She is currently translating two epic-length accounts in Hawaiian, which she plans to publish in two volumes—the first volume will be a Hawaiian typescript of the original newspaper series with the addition of diacritics and explanatory notes, and the second will be her translation with explanatory notes. For information on pricing, see the Prices for Services page.
Because of her long-time research on Hawaiian culture, together with her scholarly, peer-reviewed, publications, Dr. Brown has also been asked to act as a consultant on Hawaiian culture locally, nationally, and internationally.
